How We Work
We spun out from SAP and became an independent venture firm, providing the agility of a start-up while allowing our companies to tap into SAP’s global enterprise ecosystem of customers and partners.
We make our own investment decisions. We provide expertise, insight and connections when you want it.
Our model is one part funding, one part access and two parts expertise. You get the capital to scale your business. You get access to Enterprise level resources – think partnerships, channels, industry insights, international expansion and beyond. You get thoughtful guidance and expertise for smart growth.
How it works
We are an independent venture fund that has raised capital from SAP. We are structured the same as any other traditional venture fund. We currently have $1.4B under management. We focus on finding great companies and helping them grow.
We were founded in 1996 and understand how the combination of business model, product innovation, marketing execution and timing leads to success. We’ve helped some of the best known technology companies become successful — companies like MySQL, WebEx, RedHat, LinkedIn, Box and ExactTarget.
For more than 40 years, SAP has helped companies run mission-critical operations across all areas of business. SAP’s solutions are used by more than 190,000 of the world’s best-run businesses, touch more than 74% of the world’s financial transaction revenue and impact more than 500 million people. You get access to that ecosystem.
Our model allows you to access SAP’s many customers, partners and channels. Need to bounce an idea off experts? Access customer and advisory communities and join the conversation that today’s leading experts are having about Cloud Computing, Mobile, Big Data and more.
Want to meet face-to-face? If you are part of our portfolio family, you will be able to tap into SAP’s ecosystem and meet top customers and partners face-to-face at SAP-sponsored customer events. We are building a team of business development professionals dedicated to helping you grow.
We believe the best way to learn is to connect with other entrepreneurs that are facing similar challenges. Our network is our team, our investments, who we know and our ecosystem. By partnering with leading early stage investors around the world, their community becomes our extended community. With our network, you get to share and learn exponentially.
What We Invest In
Our strategy is to invest in companies that have a proven product and business model — companies that are scaling their revenues.
We typically invest $5M to $20M initially and can invest significantly larger amounts over time. We prefer to lead our investments and actively assist companies with a board seat. We also participate in larger rounds of funding in partnership with other investors.
We invest in technology companies that serve Enterprises directly (B2B), have Enterprises as go-to-market partners (B2B2C), or improve the lives of consumers every day (B2C).
We currently have $1.4B under management.
